About me

My career in publishing began more than 30 years. My early career was spent working as a magazine subeditor on weekly and monthly consumer magazines. I later moved into the university sector, working as a research fellow in two London law schools and assisting on the resulting publications.

Since 1997 I have freelanced from home in the lovely seaside town of Whitstable in Kent. During that time I have widened my skillset, gaining qualifications in copyediting and indexing and advanced professional membership of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders. Most recently, I gained a Masters degree in creative writing in 2017 from Kent University.

I am currently editor of the Socio-Legal Newsletter, webeditor of the SLSA website, production editor of the Northern Ireland Legal Quarterly and subeditor of the Legal Compliance Bulletin: positions that I have held for a number of years. I also copyedit and proofread academic texts for major UK publishers and academics and have indexed a large number of books and other publications. My main specialism is law, but I also work on history, classical studies, fiction and fine art.
